Invented during the late 19th century and used up to the 1930s, these large canvas leather mail bags were commonly used on the railways, and stage coaches alike, to courier express mail. Made of sturdy canvas and leather on top and bottom with iron hooks that close with an equally sturdy leather strap.
Has San Antonio markings and other writing. Stains throughout. Wear on the leather.
